Computerised Museum Databases and Data Supply
Katalin T. Bíró
Hungarian National Museum
Computerisation and data supply in museums is no longer a question of technicalities. Powerful tools of hardware and software make all kinds of data management tasks feasible within affordable limits. It is much more a question of legislation and information management, group work and conflicting interests.
The workshop intends to focus on these problems with special interest in:
- data quality and standards
- interoperability and networking
- corporate work vs. individuals
- life of a (museum) database
- clones and migration of data
- database management and security
- public, corporate and personal interests and rights
CH vs IT: working together with information technology experts for cultural heritage professionals
The workshop will start with invited talk on the above problems: short contributions are welcome followed by an open discussion.
